Richard Augustyn
Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Chairman of Management Committee

Mr. Augustyn is Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the NIP Group, Inc. For more than 30 years, Mr. Augustyn has been a successful business leader and an entrepreneur in the truest sense – he sees opportunities, builds businesses that fill needs, and creates lasting growth. In 1987, he founded NIP Group and built it into one of the nation’s leading business insurance and risk management intermediaries. He then saw a need to improve the HR model for small businesses and founded Extensis Group, which has since become a national leader in HR solutions for small and mid-sized businesses. He is CEO of both companies.

Mr. Augustyn’s business success led to being named in 2003 to NJ Biz’s NJ’s Forty under Forty, which recognizes young men and women who have made outstanding contributions to their fields.

Mr. Augustyn is also Managing Partner of Endurance Search Partners, where he enjoys partnering with and mentoring search fund entrepreneurs to help them achieve exceptional results. He currently serves on the boards of several U.S. and Canadian high-growth business service companies.


David Springer
Group President and Chief Operating Officer (COO), Management Committee Member

Mr. Springer is Group President and Chief Operating Officer of NIP Group and a member of its management committee since 2005. Prior to rising to Group President and COO, he spent eight years as President of NIP Programs, a national leader in Program Administration. As President, Mr. Springer built NIP Programs into a world class program administrator. With a focus on developing leading edge business processes that are scalable to support growth, Mr. Springer made dramatic improvements in efficiency and the service that NIP Programs provides to all of its customers, from carriers to brokers to insureds. Over that time, NIP Programs also grew its program offerings from one active program to seventeen, with more in development.

The high standards of his operation were recognized in 2007 when NIP Programs was awarded the prestigious Best Practices Designation from the Target Markets Program Administrators Association (TMPAA). Evaluation for TMPAA’s Best Practices Designation involves a rigorous and complete third party review of the business operations of nominees, and recognizes those that are best of breed operations.

Mr. Springer’s insurance career spans more than 30 years. Prior to joining NIP Group he held senior executive positions with profit and loss responsibility at AmTrust Financial Services, Inc. (NASD: AFSI) and Prudential Insurance Company (NYSE: PRU). Mr. Springer has a long track record of profitability managing property, casualty and benefit insurance underwriting operations. Mr. Springer is a member of several industry associations and is the Past President and member of the Board of Directors of the Target Markets Program Administrators Association.

Mr. Springer graduated from the University of Delaware with a B.A. in Arts & Science.


Lawrence J. Dunn III, CPA
Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Mr. Dunn is CFO of NIP Group, Inc. and a member of its management committee. Mr. Dunn is an accomplished financial professional with more than 30 years of diverse experience in the insurance and financial services industries. He has generated substantial value in high growth environments by delivering solutions in a wide array of areas, including organizational strategy, corporate development, financial reporting, cost reduction, cash flow and working capital management, and process improvement.

Prior to joining NIP Group, Mr. Dunn was Managing Director and Chief Operational Risk Officer for a major subsidiary of GMAC Financial Service (GMAC) a global financial services company, a senior financial executive at American International Group, Inc. (NYSE: AIG) and Controller of C.V. Starr & Co., Inc., one of the world’s largest Managing General Agents (MGAs). He began his career in public accounting as a member of the insurance practices first at KPMG and later at Deloitte & Touche. He also served as President of the Society of Insurance Financial Management. Mr. Dunn is also Partner at Endurance Search Partners.

Mr. Dunn graduated from Pace University with a B.B.A. in Accounting with highest honors and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).


Conrad G. Cyriax Esq.
General Counsel and Chief Claims Officer

Mr. Cyriax has more than 30 years of experience practicing law, with a concentration in insurance, and has managed claims for Conventus Inter-Insurance Exchange since 2004, during which time Conventus has posted outstanding claims results. Prior to working with NIP Group, Mr. Cyriax practiced insurance law with Thacher, Proffitt & Wood in New York and with Riker Danzig in New Jersey. He also has an extensive insurance background having been the Claims Manager for Zurich Risk Management, Alexander Howden (U.S.), Prudential Reinsurance and Liberty Mutual.

Mr. Cyriax graduated Seton Hall University with a B.A. cum laude in Political Science and holds a Juris Doctorate degree, cum laude, from New York Law School. While in law school, he served as an editor for the Law Review.


David Gramblicka
Senior Vice President, Information & Technology

Mr. Gramblicka, the Senior Vice President of Information & Technology for NIP Group, is a seasoned technology executive with more than two decades of experience in building and managing corporate IT infrastructures.  At NIP Group, Mr. Gramblicka is responsible for the Insurtech transformation of traditional insurance processes, utilizing innovations to maximize policy accuracy and throughput and reducing policy processing time from weeks to hours. He leverages automation and Business Intelligence to promote simplification and standardization of business systems to maximize optimization.

Mr. Gramblicka was most recently the Chief Information Officer for Hugo Neu Corporation, a leading recycling pioneer that invests, builds and manages businesses in recycling, real estate, and related industries. While there, he created a best-in-class modular technology platform supporting a global foundation to build upon and developed advancements to modernize manufacturing operations in Scrap Metal. His career began in Software Engineering working on notable projects such as the Boeing 777 Aircraft and developing software for Dell Computers.

Mr. Gramblicka has a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin.


Thomas Doherty
Senior Vice President, Specialty Programs

Mr. Doherty has more than twelve years of experience in the insurance industry and has spent the last five years growing NIP Group’s Specialty Programs division through his passion for optimization and customer experience.

After joining NIP Group in 2013, Mr. Doherty was instrumental in developing Specialty Programs’ business development unit, which relies on sophisticated technology and predictive analytics to identify and engage target clients through a network of brokers on a national scale. It was through successful use of business development techniques developed by Mr. Doherty that the division was able to achieve its significant growth objectives over the past 5 years. His work in developing the BD unit made him the natural choice to take over Specialty Programs in 2014. Since then, he has led the way in redesigning the programs organization to meet the needs of its customers in the industries it serves.

Prior to joining NIP Programs, Mr. Doherty was the Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Morgan 24/7 Financial Services, where he built a state-of-the-art business development group. He started his insurance career at MetLife. Mr. Doherty is proud to have earned the designation of Certified Programs Leader (CPL) from Target Markets Program Administrator Association.

Mr. Doherty graduated from Monmouth University in New Jersey and is still very active with his alma mater.


Jonathan Hall, ARM, MBA
Senior Vice President, Structured Programs

As Senior Vice President, Structured Programs, Mr. Hall provides leadership for NIP Group’s public entity, medical professional liability, transportation, and retail agency practices.  Mr. Hall also serves as Executive Director for the Garden State Municipal Joint Insurance Fund, one of the largest municipal joint insurance funds in the State of New Jersey, and the Public Entity Joint Insurance Fund, a specialized municipal joint insurance fund designed for cities in the State of New Jersey. Mr. Hall is an accomplished leader with broad experience in pooled insurance management and outsourced business services. He has spent more than 22 years in insurance management, managing insurance pools, captives, and risk retention groups for commercial and public entity property and casualty risks and group health and life programs.

Prior to NIP Group, Mr. Hall spent 15 years in risk and insurance management leadership positions within the Professional Employer Organization industry.  Most recently, Mr. Hall was Director of Risk Management at ProService Hawaii BDC, the largest PEO in Hawaii, where he managed its wholly owned captive insurer.

Mr. Hall graduated from North Central University with a B.A. and received his M.B.A. in Risk Management from Capella University. He also holds the Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designation from the Insurance Institute of America.


Steven J. Strauss, JD/MS
Senior Vice President, Financial Planning & Analysis

Mr. Strauss is the Senior Vice President of Financial Planning & Analysis, and a member of its Senior Leadership Team. Mr. Strauss is a dynamic action-oriented finance executive with more than 20 years of experience in financial services industries. Mr. Strauss has a proven track record of adding value by automating and building out robust budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and analytic functions, and implementing best practices in enterprise-wide data management and warehousing operations.

Prior to Joining NIP Group, Mr. Strauss was an Assistant Vice President at Lehman Brothers, supporting their Capital Markets division from an analytical perspective, a Senior Financial Analyst at Aurora Loan Services, a subsidiary of Lehman Brothers, a Financial Analyst at AT&T Broadband, at the time the largest telecom company in the US, and Steven J. Strauss, Esq., an attorney in private practice, specializing in contract law for technology businesses. He holds licenses to practice law in Colorado and the District of Columbia.

Mr. Strauss holds a BA in English from Clark University, a JD from New York Law School, and a MS in Finance from the University of Colorado.


Scott Glenn
Senior Vice President, Underwriting

Mr. Glenn is the Senior Vice President of Underwriting for NIP Group, overseeing the underwriting operations, strategy, portfolio management and guidelines for NIP’s programs. Mr. Glenn is an accomplished insurance executive with more than 35 years of insurance industry experience.

Prior to joining NIP Group, Mr. Glenn was Regional Vice President of National Programs with Travelers Insurance Company for more than 10 years. Before Travelers, he worked with CNA Insurance Company and Alea Alternative Risk. He began his career with the Hartford Insurance Group, working his way up from underwriter to Director.

Mr. Glenn graduated from the University of Connecticut with a bachelor’s degree in Business.


Anthony Ven Graitis, ARM, CSP
Senior Vice Presidentof Risk Management

Mr. Ven Graitis serves as Senior Vice President of Risk Management for NIP Group, overseeing the risk and safety services provided to all member insureds.  A holistic approach is taken to maximize the impact of services provided, reducing the frequency and severity of claims, while promoting a “zero tolerance for loss” philosophy.

With over 20 years of experience in safety engineering, claims, risk control and risk management, Mr. Ven Graitis most recently served as a Senior Associate and Risk Management Consultant with J. H. Cohn-UIC, one of the leading providers of risk management and safety engineering services in the country.  Here he advised public and private corporations on all aspects of risk management, including how best to develop loss control, risk and safety programs. Prior to J. H. Cohn-UIC, Mr. Ven Graitis was the Corporate Safety and Risk Manager for Community Education Centers, an owner and operator of drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers and in-prison treatment facilities located across the country.

Mr. Ven Graitis received his B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from Rutgers College of Engineering, maintains his Property/Casualty and Health/Life insurance producer licenses, and holds the ARM and CSP professional designations.


Ashley Harris, SHRM-CP, PHR
Director of People

Mrs. Harris is the Director of People at NIP Group. As such, she is the strategic leader on all People and HR programs for the company, including employee relations and compliance, talent management, engagement, learning and development and benefits.

Prior to joining NIP Group, Mrs. Harris held multiple positions at Extensis Group, one of the largest Professional Employer Organizations (PEOs) in the US. In her most recent position, she was a Senior Human Resources Manager where she delivered the full suite of HR services to clients.

Mrs. Harris is a graduate of Seton Hall University’s Stillman School of Business and is a certified Human Resources Professional (SHRM-CP and PHR).


Dean Mortilla, AAI, AU
President, Specialty Brokerage, (executive responsible for Wholesale Distribution)

Mr. Mortilla has been with NIP’s Specialty Brokerage Wholesale Division since 2004 when it was first formed. Promoted to President in January 2009, Mr. Mortilla is a market leader known for his superior brokerage skills and passion for excellence. In his years with NIP Specialty, Mr. Mortilla has significantly contributed to the company’s growth and evolution, and has been instrumental in building a solid business foundation for the company. With over 20 years of experience in the insurance industry, he has extensive knowledge of the business, specializing in Workers Compensation.

Mr. Mortilla holds a P&C, Life, Accident & Health Brokers License, as well as various states Excess Line Broker Licenses. Mr. Mortilla is degreed in the Advisory of Insurance, and holds an Associate Degree in Commercial Underwriting and an Associate in Surplus Lines Insurance, all from the Insurance Institute of America. He also holds a RWCS Designation from the National Registry of Workers Compensation Specialists.


Lyn W. Winters, CPCU, ARe
President, Conventus Inter-Insurance Exchange, (executive responsible for Healthcare Programs)

Lyn Winters has more than 35 years of knowledge and experience in medical professional liability underwriting, with a focus in insurance management. With Conventus since its inception, Ms. Winters helped develop and continues to uphold the strict underwriting, claims and financial stability standards that have helped Conventus build an extremely strong and balanced company in a highly competitive marketplace. She has been the driving force behind Conventus’ strong customer-centric focus, ensuring that the best services, programs and overall value are consistently provided to Conventus member-owners.

Ms. Winters holds the designation of Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter and Associate in Reinsurance.  She holds a New Jersey Brokers license in Accident and Health, Personal Lines and Property and Casualty Lines.  She is a member of the New Jersey Chapter of the CPCU Society.
